Pre & Post Treatment Instructions

Pre-Treatment
  • Avoid alcohol and NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin, Aleve) for 24–48 hours to reduce bruising.
  • Reschedule if you develop a rash or infection, and let us know if you have a history of cold sores.
Post-Treatment
  • Gently move the treated muscles for the first hour.
  • Stay upright for 4 hours, and you may cleanse and apply makeup the same day.
  • Avoid for 24 hours: alcohol, exercise, tight headwear, or sexual activity.
  • Avoid facials or massages for 2 weeks.
  • Use ice or arnica for any mild swelling or bruising.
Pre-Treatment

10 Days Before Treatment

  • Cold sore history: If you’re prone to cold sores, let us know. We may prescribe an antiviral to prevent an outbreak.
  • Avoiding tanning (natural or spray or self-tanner)

3 Days Before Treatment

  • Pause skincare products that make skin more sensitive like these active ingredients: retinol derivative products, AHAs, BHAs (such as salicylic acid), hydroquinone, etc

Day of Treatment

  • Clean skin: Come with a freshly cleansed face. Do not wear makeup, moisturizer, sunscreen, or perfume on your skin.
  • Food and hydration: Eat a light meal and drink water before your visit to stay comfortable during treatment.
  • We’ll apply topical anesthesia and ensure your face is cleansed before starting the procedure
Post-Treatment

First 24 Hours After Treatment

  • Your skin is in its most sensitive stage.
  • Cleansing: Rinse with cool water only. Do not use cleansers or skincare products. Pat dry gently.
  • No products other than the SkinFuse calming complex provided to you by us: Avoid sunscreen, serums, and moisturizers during this first day.
  • No makeup or exercise: Skip both to reduce risk of irritation or bacteria exposure.

After 24 Hours After treatment

  • Makeup and sunscreen can be applied
  • Skincare: Use only a mild cleanser and hydrating moisturizer. Still avoid active ingredients.
  • Exercise: Continue to avoid strenuous workouts or sweating. Light walking is fine.

3 Days After Treatment

  • Your skin is stronger but still vulnerable.
  • Heat exposure: Avoid hot tubs, saunas, and swimming pools.
  • Makeup: Safe to apply if skin feels calm.
  • Suncare: Apply sunscreen and continue to avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Exercise: Normal workouts can resume if skin is not irritated.
  • No picking: Light flaking or peeling may occur — let it shed naturally.

7 Days After Treatment

  • Gradually return to your normal routine.
  • Skincare: Resume your usual regimen when skin feels comfortable. Reintroduce retinols and acids slowly.
Pre-Treatment

7 Days Prior

  • Avoid NSAIDs: Refrain from ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, Naprosyn, and aspirin
  • Pause supplements: Stop gingko, garlic, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, flax oil, curcumin, and other anti-inflammatory nutrients.
  • Avoid systemic steroids: If medically cleared, discontinue prednisone, dexamethasone, or similar medications.
  • No alcohol or smoking: Both can increase bruising and delay healing.

Day of Treatment

  • Facial treatments: Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup or skincare products.
  • Scalp treatments: Wash hair and scalp thoroughly, and do not apply gel, mousse, hairspray, or oils.
Post-Treatment

First 8 Hours

  • Avoid touching, pressing, or manipulating the treated area.

First 24 Hours (for scalp treatments)

  • No washing: Do not wash your hair for at least 24 hours. After this, wash gently and keep the area clean.
  • No hats: Avoid wearing a hat for the first 24 hours to reduce the risk of infection.

First 7 Days (Support the body’s healing and regenerative response)

  • Continue avoiding NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, Naprosyn, aspirin).
  • Refrain from anti-inflammatory supplements (gingko, garlic, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, flax oil, curcumin).
  • Avoid systemic steroids unless medically required.
  • Continue to avoid alcohol and smoking to optimize recovery.
  • Maintain hydration and balanced nutrition—drink at least 64 ounces of water daily to support regeneration
Pre-Treatment

If you have a special event or vacation coming up, please keep in mind that you should schedule your treatment at least 4-weeks in advance.

4 Weeks Before Treatment:

  • NO dental cleaning or dental work
  • NO surgery of any kind
  • NO internal device placement
  • NO tattoos or permanent makeup
  • NO vaccines

2 Weeks Before Treatment:

  • NO cosmetic facial treatments, including laser, ultrasound, peel, facials, microneedling and microdermabrasion.
  • Tell us if you have ever had a facial cold sore (herpes simplex virus). If you have and you are having filler treatment in the mid or lower face, we may prescribe an anti-viral medication, Valtrex 2 grams, to take the morning before and evening after treatment to avoid a flare of a cold sore.
  • If you are taking blood thinning supplements or medications such as (ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, vitamin A, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, garlic, kava kava, celery root and any other herbal or homeopathic, etc) not advised by a provider, you are advised to avoid them. Let us know if you are on blood thinners (i.e. Coumadin (warfarin), Plavix, Xarelto, Pradaxa, aspirin, clopidogrel). Please DO NOT discontinue medications without consulting with your provider

3 Days Before Treatment:

  • Discontinue products containing retinols (Retin-A) 3-days prior to treatments to avoid increased redness and irritation.

2 Days Before Treatment:

  • Avoid alcohol, niacin supplements and cigarettes 48-hours before your treatment, as these may contribute to increased swelling, bruising, and irritation. Limit caffeine intake

Day of Treatment:

  • Please arrive with a clean face without makeup if possible
Post-Treatment
  • The 5-5-5 Rule: Massage areas 5 times a day for 5 minutes each time, for the 5 days. If you had Sculptra in the neck, massage one side of the neck at a time, and massage in an upward direction.
  • Cold packs may be applied to areas of swelling after injections.
  • You may take acetaminophen/tylenol if you’re experiencing mild tenderness/discomfort
  • Use gentle cleansers for 24-Hours
  • NO exercise, exposure to heat, alcohol, niacin supplements, cigarettes for 48-hours following treatment.
  • NO makeup for 24hours
  • NO Aesthetic Treatments For 2-Weeks or any
  • NO dental work, vaccines, surgeries, tattoos For 4-Weeks
Pre-Treatment

4 Weeks Before Treatment

  • Special events: Schedule your filler at least 4 weeks before weddings, photoshoots, or other big occasions.
  • If you’ve had autoimmune conditions or take immunosuppressant medications, please get clearance from the physician treating your condition. 

2 Weeks Before Treatment

  • Give your body time to heal from illnesses, procedures, or vaccines before filler. Thus, please reschedule if you’ve had any illness, including cold sores. 
  • NO dental work or cleaning, vaccinations for 2 weeks
  • Tell us if you have ever had a facial cold sore (herpes simplex virus). If you have and you are having filler treatment in the mid or lower face, we may prescribe an anti-viral medication, Valtrex 2 grams, to take the morning before and evening after treatment to avoid a flare of a cold sore. 
  • Let us know if you are on any other blood thinners (i.e. Coumadin (warfarin), Plavix, Xarelto, Pradaxa, aspirin, clopidogrel) but DO NOT STOP these medications. 

1 Week Before Treatment

  • Minimize the risk of bruising and swelling by avoiding things that thin the blood.
  • Alcohol and NSAIDs: Try to avoid alcohol and medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin (if safe to stop).
  • Supplements: Stop fish oil, Vitamin E, and other blood-thinning supplements.
Post-Treatment

First 24 Hours After Treatment

  • Protect the treated area while the filler settles.
  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treatment area or putting direct pressure on your face
  • Avoid extreme cold or heat 
  • NO makeup

First 48 Hours After Treatment

  • NO exercise for 48hours. Walking is fine.

First 5 Days After Treatment

  • Please wait to travel outside the city for 5 days in case of complications and flying can also increase swelling and pressure

First 2 Weeks After Treatment

  • Please avoid facials, procedures like lasers, dental work, vaccinations
